Promises

As a county councilor I would like to enhance the expertise, available to the county council of South Karelia on such topics as:

  • Promotion of transparency of decission-making
  • Use of open source software to reduce digital infrastructure expenses
  • Digitization of healthcare and rescue services
  • Promotion of quality services to population with international background

Besides that, I plan to actively support and propose such measures, that reduce gender, nationality, racial or language discrimination and promote direct democracy. I.e. if elected I will propose and support:

  • Better communication with disabled persons and non-Finnish speakers
    • Supplementing video records of council meetings with machine-readable subtitles.
    • Mandatory translation of agenda of upcoming council meetings into English.
  • Better feedback and direct democracy tools
    • I.e. regular questionnaires of residents, that should be used as indicators for quality of municipality-provided services.

Aleksei Romanenko received the B.Eng.Tech in electrical engineering from the Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University in 2011 and the dual-degree M.Sc. from Lappeenranta-Lahti University LUT and Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University in 2013.

In 2013, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, LUT University as a Research Assistant and became a doctoral student there in 2014. After completing his doctoral studies in accordance with cotutelle programme between Lappeenranta-Lahti University LUT and Graz University of Technology in 2017 he conducted his military service as research assistant in National Defense University for 6 months, where he focused on Natural Language Processing. Upon his return to LUT University he continued research work in the Electricity Markets Laboratory, which focuses its research on problems of optimal energy grid design and electricity market policies. Aleksei's interests are currently focused on Machine Learning technology, large-scale problem optimization and design of communication standards for power grid equipment.

Since June 2019, Aleksei has been a part of a family-run consulting company Pterippi Oy, where he performed Software Development, Data Analyst and Business Administration duties. In 2019-2020 he have been a Board Member of housing company Asunto Oy Piiluvankatu 40. In 2020 Aleksei have been elected into Council of Pirate Party.
